The unfinished monument to the heroes of Numantia of 1842 was realized on the remains of a double “caldarium” (hall of hot baths) of some small thermal baths of the city of Roman epoch; in its basis we can see the openings for the passage of hot air that flew from chambers or free spaces left in the high floors and wall appliques giving to the rooms the aspect of a steam bath. On the left, at floor level we can see how a narrow channel led spare water to the central drain of the street.
